Pokémon TCG is one of the biggest strategy games in the world with new expansions and Pokemon Championships tournaments coming out every year. In fact, as of March 2019, Pokemon TCG has sold over 27.2 billion cards worldwide since its inception back in 1996. None of this news comes as a surprise considering that a new card series is released for every Pokemon generation, just like the recently announced Pokemon Sword and Shield ani
Over the years of the **Pokémon Trading Card Game ** , different strategies and decks have risen to prominence. Even in the Base Set days, strong players were discovering new deck ideas to dominate competitive play . After two decades, the Pokémon Trading Card SLG game heroes still __ has a thriving scene of smart and creative players always pushing the format forward. However, with over twenty years to look back on, what were some of the strongest decks in their respective form
Finally, the Pokemon Sword & Shield _ TCG expansion also makes some small aesthetic adjustments to the way Energy cards appear. It's nothing _too major, but they do look cleaner and sleeker, and very much fit in with the sense that the set's release coincides with a "new" version of a clas
Watching the Pokemon TCG continue to grow and adapt to pressures from its community as they grow as well, it's clear that the Pokemon Company has been paying attention to what fans want. A revised rules policy that attempts to make the game more balanced, more flashy additions to keep consumers interested in the game's art style and presentation, and attention paid to all types of players make the Pokemon Sword & Shield _ TCG expansion one of the most important in the game's history. It will be interesting to see how things unfold from here but, if nothing else, trainers across the world can be confident that the _Sword & Shield _ series of the _Pokemon TCG is starting off ri
Eelektrik is likely one of the last Pokémon anyone would expect on this list. But yes, this (not even fully-evolved) eel creature was so powerful that it earned its way directly into so many successful decks. Eelektrik was an intensely versatile card due to its shockingly broken ability, " Dynamotor." This ability allowed Eelektrik to take electric energy from the discard pile once a turn and attach it directly to a benched card. This led to many players running four Eelektrik with attackers that took advantage of its amazing ability. Many early variants of this deck ran Mewtwo EX which would do more damage with more energy attached to it. With Eelektrik's ability, this energy could be accelerated to Mewtwo incredibly fast for high damage output early in the g
It isn't just the base set that's exciting, and it won't just be competitive players who stand to benefit from the many changes coming to the Pokemon TCG as it prepares for the _Sword & Shield _ series of its life cycle. With _Pokemon Sword & Shield _ TCG comes a trio of theme decks that could not be better for new players and new fans in general, as they mirror the time-honored tradition of selecting a starter Pokemon and beginning a trainer's journey into the world of the video SLG Game missions franchise. The three theme decks coming with the set are Inteleon, Rillaboom, and Cinderace, the final evolutions of the most recent generation of starters: Sobble, Grookey, and Scorbu
The most recent deck on this list, and certainly the most powerful in terms of solely damage output, the Pikachu and Zekrom deck is fast, powerful, and incredibly difficult to take down. The deck runs Dedenne GX to speed it up with its strong ability " Dedechange." Zeraora GX and Pikachu and Zekrom GX have strong energy acceleration and huge damage output. This deck seems to mix together much of the stronger elements from past formats. Big, bulky, basic Pokémon , energy acceleration, and consistency are all here. Overall, the deck is hard to contain with its huge damage output and sustainabil
Having cracked open the theme decks and played them against each other, they're startlingly similar to the way trainers can battle their Pokemon in the video games - and just like those, typing matters a bunch. Having access to all three was especially fun since the decks basically make one person play as the "rival" in each instance. For younger fans of the game or those who've always wanted to learn, the _Pokemon Sword & Shield _ TCG theme decks make a game that has been around for decades much easier to learn than it has any right be
In retrospect, the Team Plasma deck is a very simple one. The deck ran three strong cards, Thundurus EX, Deoxys EX, and Kyurem. Due to all three cards being Plasma cards, they obtained the benefits of " The Plasma Engine". Cards like Colress Machine and Team Plasma Ball kept the deck consistent and fast. Essentially, the goal is to simply use strong plasma attackers like Thundurus and Kyurem while Deoxys powers them up on the bench with its ability. Deoxys itself could also be utilized to deal with Mewtwo EX 's at the time as well, but Kyurem was the real star of the show. It had high HP, low attack cost, and wasn't even an EX. Overall, the deck was solid and simple and this led it to a world championship win in 2
