Alternatively, Martin could have seen it as the consequence of his own story growing beyond his control - perhaps no ending would have satisfied his audience. Similarly, in Elden Ring , Godfrey may have seen his exile as the result of him defeating all the worthy opponents in the Lands Between, having no choice but to travel to distant lands in order to grow stronger<br><br> <br>Despite this, the two have been brought together through Elden Ring 's messaging system in a way that is oddly fitting. Perhaps the best Metal Gear Solid inside joke, however, is a direct reference to the iconic ladder-climbing scene from Metal Gear Solid 3 , which serves as a tranquil moment of reflection near the end of the game.
