<br>A plane heading to New York was forced to turn around just two hours into the flight after a passenger suddenly 'fell ill' onboard. 
The Virgin Atlantic flight heading to JFK Airport had to return all the passengers and crew to Manchester Airport because the person needed urgent medical attention.
The aircraft flew west over Ireland and made it over the Atlantic Ocean before the pilot took a U-Turn, landing back in Manchester at around 4.10pm today.
The VS127 flight, which departed at 1.58pm, was expected to land in New York at around 9pm Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
Virgin Atlantic said: 'Due to a medical issue onboard, flight VS127 operating from Manchester to New York on Monday 24 March has returned to Manchester.
'We're sorry for the inconvenience caused to customers onboard and plan to resume the flight to New York as soon as possible.'
The airline also posted travel updates, apologising to customers.
They wrote: We're sorry to advise that flight VS127 to New York has been required to return to Manchester Airport after a customer took ill inflight and needed immediate medical attention on the ground.
