Apex Legends from Respawn Entertainment is currently celebrating its Season 6 event and players are having a blast with the new changes. Outside of the gun changes which have altered the meta, many updates have led to a change in the tier list for Legends in the g

<img src="https://media.defense.gov/2024/May/03/2003456342/-1/-1/0/240503-G-G0000-101.JPG"; style="max-width:400px;float:left;padding:10px 10px 10px 0px;border:0px;" alt="" />Now when I say fall damage I'm not talking about falling into an endless pit. That's been a staple of gaming since the days of Super Mario Bros . While I don't necessarily enjoy that either, I understand that's it's there because most game designers don't want to recreate an entire planet's surface. Sometimes it's easier to put in a dark, foggy pit and leave its deadliness up to your imaginat

apex E District Map, on the other hand, doesn't really have the same problem. Look at the female characters alone – Wraith, Bangalore, and Lifeline. Only one of them is wearing a body suit, and considering her character (stealthy interdimensional assassin-y lady,) it fits. The other two women wear clothing that makes sense for both their respective roles on the battlefield and their lore, with Bangalore’s fatigues making sense considering her military upbringing and Lifeline’s breathable top and cargo pants fitting with her role as a combat medic, as well as being more casual than something somebody from her wealthy upbringing might wear. On top of their outfits, each woman looks different. Different body types and heights and faces help to give them differentiating factors beyond outfit colors and hairstyles. While I’d like more diversity in terms of female body types and eventually other ethnicities, it’s a pretty bang-up st

Play the PC and then the mobile version of PUBG and it's easy to see where the development strayed off too far. Since the mobile version is a free game, it has tons of cosmetic features and other annoying advertisements to make up for the price

Here's the thing though: reality is stupid. While it's certainly true to life that a mistimed fall will lead to injury and perhaps death, that doesn't mean it's fun. Fall damage has never been enjoyable and always hinders how you can play a game. So it's time for game developers to thumb their nose at Isaac Newton and eliminate fall damage once and for

Plus, the character designs across the board are very good. There's no titty armor or weeaboo nonsense – every character’s outfit and physical appearance fits their role, has good glance value, follows the classic silhouette test rule , and has a cohesiveness to it that fits in the context of the universe. It’s a game that draws you into its world based on the way the characters look, instead of yanking you out of it. That’s a hard thing to accomplish, especially when it comes to a PVP free-to-play game. It takes a lot of extra effort to not just try and appeal to the lowest common denominator like certain other games that are MOBAs made by Riot Games or shooters made by Hi-Res. A

I digress. First, let’s talk about the female characters – practically all of them look the goddamn same. Outliers like Mei and Zarya notwithstanding, almost every single female character, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, or occupation, are identical in both facial characteristics and body type. A gruff military woman hailing from Egypt has the same ass and bust and weight of an introverted teenage hacker from Mexico, a socially awkward Indian mathematician, a dumb white cowgirl, a Swedish welder, a German doctor, a professional gamer from Korea, a French sniper, a white whatever-the-fuck Tracer is, et cet

Caustic fills a niche in Apex Legends that few of his counterparts can claim or accomplish. Whether you feel his gas canisters are easily avoidable or annoying death traps, everyone agrees that his zoning potential is almost unmatched. Smart Caustic mains can set up camp in specific areas and can cut off retreat points or flanking opportunities. If the circle ever happens to end in a confined area, Caustic is ready and willing to thrive in the gas, even at the cost of his friends and teamma

His drone can now revive teammates at beacons which is incredible and lets players get their team back in the game at a much lower risk. He can also scan survey beacons instantaneously, which now reveal the location of the next ring in the ma

I can see the argument for why fall damage should be in certain games. Series like Uncharted and Tomb Raider aim for a high level of realism with their action, so it makes total sense to include it. In the real world, any of the death-defying leaps that characters like Nathan Drake or Lara Croft perform would result in a broken fibula or separated shoulder even when they landed perfectly. It would break immersion if they survived falling fifty feet onto a rocky surface without at least stubbing their

Fall damage makes logical sense. After all, it's possible to suffer an intense sprain or broken bone from something as simple as tripping on the sidewalk. Gravity can be one of reality's greatest villains. So when a game is aiming to be as realistic and authentic as possible, having severe, painful consequences for a high fall is a perfectly reasonable design cho
