There are many ways that multiple playable characters could be implemented in Tears of the Kingdom . For example, they could appear in sequences that run parallel to the main story, or perhaps before it, in the case of the Zonai. Such interludes could be as short or as long as required, and would provide a new perspective on the events of TOTK . In many cases, this would likely be something that would be impossible to convey from following Link’s point of view alone. As a result, it would be possible to develop TOTK ’s plot into a much more complex story than Breath of the Wild ?
Despite their differences, the physical resemblance between Breath of the Wild ’s Princess Zelda and this new Hylian seems far too strong to be a coincidence. It is readily apparent that there is a strong connection between the two, especially when taking into account their matching attire and possession of the same Tear. Assuming that this Hylian is indeed an ancient Zelda, then this opens up the possibility that she is in fact the Princess who initially sealed Calamity Ganon 10,000 years prior to Breath of the Wild . With TOTK being a direct sequel to BOTW , this makes perfect sense; such a plot point could easily shed light on the events which ultimately lead to Breath of the Wild . It seems that Tears of the Kingdom could truly benefit from the addition of extra playable characters, no matter how they are implemented. There is incredible potential to be found in terms of both gameplay and story, and taking advantage of this could bring TOTK to even greater heights. The final trailer to be released ahead of Tears of the Kingdom shows numerous familiar faces from Breath of the Wild , including side characters such as Riju and Sidon. Notable absences so far include Yunobo and Teba, although the latter’s son, Tulin, appears to have replaced him as Link’s ally. Another prominent face was Zelda, who appears to have found herself living alongside Zonai despite the tribe supposedly being extinct. However, although Tears of the Kingdom does look to have more traditional dungeons, there's still a question as to the game's structure. Whereas Breath of the Wild 's freeform exploration and minimalist story created the opportunity for players to tackle the Divine Beasts in any order, that same freedom also created a problem for the Divine Beasts themselves. Allowing the separate objectives to be done in any order, at any point in the game, meant that each dungeon had to present roughly the same challenge, and had to be doable with any set of tools or powers, ultimately making the Divine Beasts indistinct from one anot
