Reading skills are generally introduced to children during their early years. They start with recognizing alphabets and eventually progress towards decoding words and reading sentences. However, the ultimate goal extends beyond this surface-level reading ability. The focus is to have a child comprehend the material, interpret it, draw conclusions, make predictions, infer meanings, evaluate, and appreciate what they’ve read, thereby promoting independent thinking.
Choral reading is another activity that fosters reading fluency. It involves students reading a selected text together while their teacher acts as the lead reader. The practice allows students to master pace, rhythm, and intonation of fluent reading by following along with their teacher and peers. It is an effective method not only to foster fluency but also to introduce new literature to students.
The socio-emotional advantages of reading comprehension are also noteworthy. Apart from academic success, it significantly aids in building a child's empathy level by allowing them to experience different feelings and situations through characters in books. It broadens their perspective and enhances their ability to understand others better.

Therefore, it is essential for parents and educators to use effective methods to reinforce and improve their reading motivation.
The aid of technology can also be leveraged in enhancing reading comprehension. Various reading apps and online resources offer interactive experiences with embedded comprehension quizzes, which make learning both fun and effective.
