The Ivy League school announced the layoffs as the institution faces financial strain following the Trump administration's decision to pull millions in federal funding in March following its 'mishandling' of protests against Israel. Trump demanded the university disallow students from wearing masks, the hiring of campus security with the allowance to arrest students, to abolish its current disciplinary process, and the appointment of a new senior vice provost to oversee the university's department of Middle East, South Asian and best online math tutor African Studies. 'Columbia's leadership continues discussions with the federal government in support of resuming activity on these research awards and additional other awards that have remained active, but unpaid,' the letter said 'When there's an interruption in funding, people have to leave, new people can't be hired, some initiatives have to be put on hold, others need to be stopped, so research stops moving forward,' he added. Lucas was convicted by the Sole Court of the District of Serro, Minas Gerais, Brazil, December 6, 2016, of rape of a vulnerable person and sentenced to serve nine years and four months incarceration.
