What are the different types of sleep?

Some people find that they need more of one type of sleep than another. <br><br>Most people fall into one of the following four <a href="http://pushhealth.su">categories</a>: Normal, light, deep, or REM. <br><br>Normal sleep is the most common type and is characterized by gradual decreases in heart rate and breathing rate over the course of several hours. People in this stage are usually quite relaxed and may experience minor changes in body temperature. <br><br>Light sleep occurs during the first two thirds of the night and is characterized by a decrease in heart rate and respiration to around 50 beats per minute and 6 breaths per minute, respectively. People in this stage are usually very alert but may experience mild changes in body temperature. <br><br>Deep sleep occupies the final third of the night and is characterized by a decreased heart rate and respiration to around 3 beats per minute and 1 breath per minute, respectively. People in this stage are usually quite still but may experience very deep relaxation and powerful dreaming recall abilities. <br><br>REM (rapid eye movement) sleep occupies just a small sliver of the night--the last third--and is marked by rapid eye movement (more than 100 times per hour). This stage is important for consolidating memories into long-term storage as well as for active dreaming.<br>
How do we breathe while we're sleeping?

Meanwhile, when we’re hot, our body expands its blood vessels to let more heat escape.<br>
